I am Nava Ahmed, a watercolour artist with a passion for painting nature. I started painting as a child and absolutely enjoyed depicting the play of light and different hues. Flowers are one of my favourites to paint, I enjoy capturing their intricate delicacy and vivid colours on paper. Birds and animals are other subjects I love to paint.
Despite wanting to pursue professional art since an early age, I ended up getting a BSc. degree in Computer Science, which led me to work in London for nearly two years. I quit working when I became a mother, and rekindled my passion for Watercolour Art. I specialise in watercolour florals and have an avid interest in Islamic Art including Illumination, Geometry and Arabic calligraphy. I am a member of the Tadworth Art Group.
At the beginning of my artistic rediscovery, I created customised fondant cakes that gave the website its name of The Art & Cake Studio. Cake-making has now taken a backseat so I can focus completely on Art classes for all ages while creating my own artwork.
I specialise in helping students prepare their Art Portfolios for 11+, 13+ Art Scholarships and assist GCSE Art & Design students with honing their skills and enhancing their capabilities. My students have been successful in obtaining Art Scholarships at London Independent schools like Sir William Perkins School, Francis Holland Regent's Park, Kingston Grammar School, Tormead School, St. John's School Leatherhead, Cobham Hall and Reigate Grammar School. My students have also worked towards Awards such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award (Skill learning section), one of my students received an award from the Worshipful Guild of Painters-Stainers.
